Solution: The tablecloths were replaced with those featuring a dotted, non-slip coating on the back. The coating, made of food-grade PVC, creates a micro-suction cup effect on the tabletop, increasing the coefficient of friction to over 0.6, without compromising the tablecloth's appearance or feel.
Results: In actual testing at the restaurant, the tablecloths did not shift even when pulled forcefully by customers. Tableware falls were eliminated, and the customer dining experience improved. All 300 stores of this chain brand nationwide replaced their tablecloths with this new design.
