Product Description
White Solid Magnesium Oxide Powder Supplement
High-quality magnesium oxide powder for use as a colorant, decolorizer, and purifier in glass manufacturing and various industrial applications.
Physical and Chemical Properties
Magnesium oxide is a white amorphous powder that is odorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. With a relative density of approximately 3.58 (25℃), it features an extremely high melting point of 2852℃ and boiling point of 3600℃. The compound is difficult to dissolve in water, insoluble in alcohol, but soluble in acid or ammonium salt solutions.
When heated above 1000℃, it converts to crystalline form, and at temperatures exceeding 1500℃, becomes dead-burned or sintered magnesium oxide. Exposure to atmospheric carbon dioxide results in the formation of basic magnesium carbonate.
Primary Applications
  • Manufacture of ceramics, enamel, refractory crucibles, and bricks
  • Polishing agent, adhesive, and filler for paints and paper products
  • Accelerator and activator for chloroprene rubber formulations
  • Medical applications as an antacid and laxative for gastric conditions
  • Glass production, dye manufacturing, and phenolic plastics
  • Food-grade applications including pH adjustment in ice cream powder

Key Characteristics
  • Strong Chemical Stability: Maintains integrity at high temperatures without decomposition
  • Non-toxic Composition: Safe for human and environmental contact
  • Renewable Resource: Can be recycled through natural processes
  • Excellent Insulation: Superior electrical insulating properties for electronics applications
Production Methods
Manufactured through various processes including:
  • Soda ash method
  • Ammonium carbonate method
  • High-purity magnesium hydroxide process (most common for 99%+ purity)
The magnesium hydroxide method utilizes brine as the primary raw material with ammonia or alkali as precipitant, followed by calcination to produce magnesium oxide. This mature technology enables large-scale production of high-purity magnesium oxide exceeding 99% concentration.
Packaging and Storage
Store in cool, ventilated areas away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Packaging must comply with HG/T 2573-2012 standards to prevent leakage or damage during transport.
Safety Precautions
  • Industrial operators should wear appropriate PPE including dust masks and protective gloves
  • Medical applications require professional supervision to prevent overuse
  • Maintain emergency response plans for potential environmental incidents
Professional technical support available for all application questions and custom requirements.
