Customer Problem: An inflatable boat manufacturer discovered that cracks appeared at the folds after the hull was folded and stored, leading to a decrease in airtightness. This problem was exacerbated, especially in low-temperature environments where the fabric hardened and became brittle.
Solution: A knitted base fabric with a PVC coating was used. The knitted structure gives the fabric excellent low-temperature flexibility and resistance to repeated folding. It remained crack-free after 100,000 folds at -30°C, while maintaining good airtightness.
Results: The inflatable boat passed the European recreational boat standard EN 15649 test and became the designated equipment for Arctic research teams. The products are exported to the Nordic and Canadian markets, with annual export volume increasing by 200%.
